Nine Inch Nails Announce New Album, Band signs to Columbia to release first album since 2008...

Nine Inch Nails will release a new studio album — their first since 2008's The Slip — some time this year on their new label, Columbia Records.

"I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately," Trent Reznor said in a statement. "For the last year, I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great."

Reznor told Rolling Stone last year that he was working on new Nine Inch Nails material after the group disbanded after their farewell tour in 2009. Earlier this year, the frontman confirmed NIN was indeed coming back with a brand-new lineup that would play a handful of festivals (including Lollapalooza and Outside Lands) this summer and arena dates in the fall.

Reznor has kept busy in the years since he ended NIN, scoring music for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network and winning an Oscar with Ross for the latter.
"This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again," Reznor added in the release. "My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place."

Black Sabbath's first album with Ozzy Osbourne in 35 years finally has a release date: '13' is slated to come out on June 11th, according to the latest official update for the band. The news was accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video of Sabbath recording in Los Angeles' Shangri-La Studio with producer Rick Rubin.

The Rolling Stones' 50th Anniversary Tour Blasts Off in London Bill Wyman, Mick Taylor, Jeff Beck and Mary J. Blige join band for kickoff ...

The Rolling Stones began their 50th anniversary tour with the biggest possible bang on Sunday night, as a host of special guests joined them for a hit-packed show in London's O2 Arena. Former Stones comrades Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor returned to the ranks, while Mary J. Blige and Jeff Beck were also on hand to help with the celebrations.

Wyman – who left the Stones in 1992 – was greeted with warm applause and a handshake from Keith Richards as he returned to play bass on "It's Only Rock and Roll" and "Honky Tonk Women." But the biggest cheers came for Taylor, who hasn't been a Stone since 1974 – he played trademark blues guitar solos on an extended version of "Midnight Rambler" and looked like he was enjoying every second of the reunion.

Jimmy Page: Led Zeppelin Reunion Tour Never Happened Because Robert Plant 'Was Busy' Some of us thought that we would be continuing,' says guitarist ....

It turns out that Led Zeppelin fans weren't alone in thinking the group's 2007 triumphant reunion concert at London's O2 Arena would lead to a tour. "Some of us thought we would be continuing, that there were going to be more concerts in the not-too-distant-future," Jimmy Page tells Rolling Stone Senior Writer David Fricke in the new issue, on stands Friday. "Because there was a lot of work being put into the show."

Ultimately, Robert Plant had no interest in carrying on. "He was busy," says Page. "He was doing his Alison Krauss project. I wasn't fully aware it was going to be launched at the same time. So what do you do in a situation like that? I'd been working with the other two guys for the percentage of the rehearsals at the O2. We were connecting well. The weakness was that none of us sang."
With Plant out of the picture, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham continued rehearsing together in early 2008. "We didn't do any professional recording," says Page. "We just had a little digital recorder. I thought it was good. I wasn't going to away from it. But the weakness came up again. It was, 'We gotta have a singer.'"

Bono Will Ask Lawmakers to Spare Aid Programs U2 singer meeting with Congress, Obama officials to make case ...

Bono will urge U.S. lawmakers not to cut U.S. foreign assistance programs when the U2 singer and anti-poverty activist visits Washington this week, Reuters reports. Bono will make his case to members of Congress and the Obama administration, who must reach a budget deal to avoid $600 million worth of spending cuts and tax increases, known as the "fiscal cliff," that would take effect early next year.
Bono will make an appeal to spare development assistance, according to a spokeswoman for his ONE Campaign, arguing that U.S. programs that fund treatment for HIV/AIDS patients, nutrition programs for malnourished children and emergency food aid help to save tens of millions of lives in impoverished nations while representing just one percent of the U.S. budget.
The singer will also talk today with students at Georgetown University about the power of social movements, and meet with World Bank President Jim Yong Kim Wednesday for a webcast discussion about the challenges of eradicating poverty.

Mick Jagger to Co-Produce James Brown Biopic, Rolling Stones singer joins movie that's been years in the works ...

Mick Jagger will join Brian Grazer to produce a long-awaited James Brown biopic that The Help writer and director Tate Taylor is in talks to direct, Deadline reports.

"It's a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown," said Jagger. "He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life."

Jagger's Jagged Films and Grazer's Imagine Entertainment will co-produce the movie, based on a screenplay written by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth, who most recently co-wrote the 2010 movie Fair Game. Jagged and Imagine are now seeking distribution for the movie, and an actor who can portray Brown.

Grazer has spent years working on the biopic, which traces Brown's rise from the abject poverty of his youth to becoming the Hardest Working Man in Show Business. The singer himself was involved in the project before his death in 2006.

Led Zeppelin Clash With Reporters at New York Press Conference Robert Plant slams media for 'inane questions' ...

Led Zeppelin clashed with reporters at a press conference this afternoon at the Museum of Modern Art while promoting Celebration Day, an upcoming film capturing their 2007 reunion concert at London's O2 arena. The conference started out as congenial, with Plant jokingly singing lines from Elvis Presley's "Love Me" into the microphone, but turned contentious when an Associated Press reporter asked if the new film will possibly anticipate something bigger from the band. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham became uncomfortably silent. "I mean, we've been thinking about all sorts of things," Plant said. "And then we can't remember what we were thinking of. Schmuck."

For years, Mojotone has been a paragon of the DIY lifestyle, encouraging thousands of guitar players across the world to "own the tone." While many would consider  assembling and wiring an entire guitar amplifier in their home workshop to be daunting and perhaps even overwhelming, Mojotone sees the light at the end of the proverbial  tunnel.  Mojotone employee, Logan Tabor, says "We try to empower our customers the way they empower us. Our customers help us strive to do the best job we possibly can, and we simply take the opportunity to return that sense of fortitude."

Mojotone is what many would consider a rare bird, offering all of the electronic and aesthetic components necessary to create a guitar amp, a set of pickups,  or even a speaker cabinet.  The company stocks a wide variety of parts sourced from numerous manufacturers, allowing customers to fully customize their upcoming projects. While Mojotone does offer kits for vintage reproduction amplifiers, they also give customers the option to swap out parts and achieve something that is truly unique.

Billie Joe Armstrong Seeking Substance Abuse Treatment After Vegas Meltdown Band apologizes for iHeartRadio incident

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is seeking treatment for substance abuse, his bandmates have announced. Green Day posted the news in a statement on their Facebook page on Sunday, two days after Armstrong made waves with a profanity-riddled tantrum onstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
Billboard reported that a sign indicating that the band had one minute left for their set on Friday night triggered Armstrong's meltdown, along with accusations that the festival organizers were cutting the band short. Armstrong ended the set by smashing up his guitar, saying "Let me show you what one minute fucking means."
"We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas," the band's statement says. "We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."

Pussy Riot Trial in Moscow Erupts in Chaos, Feminist punks have been jailed for performing a 'punk prayer' in a cathedral ...

The central Khamovniki court in Moscow erupted in chaos Friday when defense witnesses for Pussy Riot – the three feminist punk rockers charged in what many consider a political show trial – were denied the opportunity to testify on the musicians' behalf.

After the prosecution read a statement from their absent last witness (the senior priest at Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral), the Pussy Riot defense team demanded that Judge Marina Syrova order guards to let in their witnesses, who have been kept out of the building. Syrova repeatedly ignored motions for witness testimonies. A huge barking Rottweiler kept in the courtroom, and three men in balaclavas outside yelling "Free Pussy Riot," escalated the mayhem.
