Scott Weiland Talks 'Avengers' Tune, STP Anniversary Tour 'I'm sure that will happen,' says singer of a new Stone Temple Pilots album ...

The coming months will be busy ones for Scott Weiland, who has several projects confirmed or in the planning stages. First up: "Breathe," a new solo song on Avengers Assemble, the soundtrack to The Avengers out today on Marvel Music/Hollywood Records (the film hits theaters on Friday). "Dana [Dufine], my manager, she sent them the song and they liked it," Weiland said "I thought that it fit the idea – I haven't seen the film yet, but just thematically, it fit. And I'm happy to be a part of it." Weiland confirms that there will be another new solo album at some point: "I always write stuff and record stuff, because I've got my own studio," he says. But the highly melodic "Breathe" is not necessarily a stylistic preview of his next disc. "It's probably the most commercial sort of song, the poppiest song, that I've put out on any of my previous solo records," says Weiland.

On September 1st, Weiland and his Stone Temple Pilots bandmates will launch a tour in Hershey, Pennsylvania to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut LP, Core. "I'm looking forward to it," he says. "We're going to play the album in its entirety. I think it'll be really fun, because the one thing that I got tired of was sort of playing the same basic set list every night. It was like, 'the hits.' This way, it's something different, and I think it will be cool."
